Virtual Henna
Leap Motion Interactive Experience
The brief.

Create a virtual experience that is original, creative, and fun, to be displayed in a museum, under the topic of ethnicities and cultures.
Motivation.

People can be board in museum tours, people want to be engaged with the art. Museums are not passive anymore, tourist like interactive experiences.
Target Audience.

Tourists and locals.
People of all ages and genders.
The concept.

To create a virtual henna experience using a motion sensor - specifically a leap motion. The gesture of henna drawing will be the same as in real life.

The interactive experience can be amusing for people never drawn henna before.

Research & Inspiration.
Sketches.

Photography.

To get the right feeling of an Arabian Henna night, I did some experimentation with photography. First, I had a floral background with colored nail polish, and then a plain blush color background with clean nails. But it didn't work, so I use a stock image that captures the celebration atmosphere in the photo.

Creating Templates.

I wanted the virtual henna experience to be user friendly for those who did draw henna before. So I created design templates out of real henna pictures I found online. Therefore, the user can choose to have a template to follow or have white space for creativity.
